Accountability

80% of the world’s evangelical Christians live in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Over the last 50 years, God’s church has grown exponentially in these areas.

These regions have tremendous mission sending potential to help bring the gospel to unreached peoples, but they currently send only 20% of the world’s cross-cultural missionaries!

Why This Matters

Egypt&rsquo;s Nile Delta region is a land of abandoned church buildings. For centuries, the church in the Delta has faced severe persecution from radical Islam, and in the early 2000s many had to flee their homes and cities. The region is home to half the country&rsquo;s population &mdash; including 55 million Muslims &mdash; yet there are few remaining evangelical churches.
Americans missionaries have so many obstacles in reaching Arabs, and it takes years to recruit, train, and send them. Yet, Egyptian missionaries already know the language, culture, and are being sent only a few hours drive from their extended family and supporting churches.&nbsp;
Via's strategy is to partner with strong evangelical churches through Catalytic Church Planting Partnerships. They have the desire and the leaders, but lack the ability to plant new churches on their own. Together, with our Egyptian partners, our desire is that 100 churches would be planted in the Delta Region and South Egypt. These are Egyptian missionaries and pastors who are being sent and supported by their Egyptian sending churches. Via comes alongside with matching funds as well as resources and trainings for their churches and missionaries.&nbsp;
Egyptian missionaries and pastors are waiting, but only lack financial resources. It only takes $300 per month to send and support an Egyptian pastor. We are training these missionaries to raise the other half of their financial support locally, with the goal of them being a self-sustaining church in 5 years. This initiative has already started with 9 new pastors being sent, and 11 more are ready to be sent now.

Church to Church Partnerships

Churches desiring to be a Catalytic Church Planting Partner can join with us in Egypt to meet these pastors and see what God is doing. Over the past few years, Via has brought several pastors from the USA to encourage, train, and pray with the Egyptian church leaders. Mobilize your congregation to pray for the unreached Muslims in Egypt as well as the pastors and church you are supporting. We would be happy to plan a trip for a small group of leaders from your church to visit your Arab brothers and sisters in Christ!

Project Details

Will you consider being a catalyst for church planting in Egypt?
The vision of the Delta Project is to plant 100 churches through partnerships by providing a 5-year matching launch fund.&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>$300 per month provides the match for their salary, along with translated resources and training</li>
<li>$300 per month for 5 years is a $18,000 to sponsor a church planter. This can be given monthly, annually, or all at once.&nbsp;</li>
<li>The total project is $1,800,000 ($18,000 x 100 pastors)</li>
</ul>
Expectations of Egyptian Church Planters:
<ul>
<li>Affirm Via's <a href="/about/beliefs" rel="follow noopener" target="_blank">Statement of Faith</a></li>
<li>Completion of Bible Education Assessment (displays competency and experience in evangelical doctrine and teaching).&nbsp;</li>
<li>Completion of Church Planter Bootcamp (assessing knowledge, skills, character, vision, experience, personality). Their sending church may have additional trainings expected of them.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Completion of Via's Support Raising Bootcamp (providing the biblical and practical skills in developing a team of financial and prayer partners to sustain their ministry)&nbsp;</li>
<li>Church Planters must raise half of their support to be matched by one of Via's partners. Raising ones personal support indicates a healthy ability to initiate in their community, shows they people in their sending churches who affirm their calling and competency, and ensures they have personal ownership. After five years, the church planter must replace US $300/mo commitment either through offerings from their new church or further personal support raising.&nbsp;</li>
