80% of the world’s evangelical Christians live in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Over the last 50 years, God’s church has grown exponentially in these areas.

These regions have tremendous mission sending potential to help bring the gospel to unreached peoples, but they currently send only 20% of the world’s cross-cultural missionaries!

Have you ever tried to start a new habit, like flossing every day, practicing a new language, or starting a workout regimen? Then you know it&rsquo;s easier said than done. The same is true when it comes to building routines that help your family grow in faith.
But the good news? You don&rsquo;t have to overhaul your life or run a full Bible study at the dinner table every night. Small, simple habits can make a big difference over time. It&rsquo;s all about starting where you are and building from there. Here are a few keystone principles to creating holy habits, because small, faithful choices made today shape the spiritual rhythms of tomorrow.
<h3>Start Small: The 2-Minute Rule</h3>
When starting a new habit, keep it simple and short. Really short. Like two minutes short. This is the &ldquo;2-minute rule&rdquo;&mdash;a trick that helps your brain ease into a new habit without resistance.
Want to start reading the Bible as a family? Start with one verse. Want to pray together before bed? Keep it to a single sentence. Want your family to have a heart for God&rsquo;s world? Have your children point to a country on a map and pray that those people will come to follow Jesus. Once the habit becomes part of your rhythm, you can grow it over time.
<h3>Stack It With Something You Already Do</h3>
One of the easiest ways to build a new habit is to &ldquo;stack&rdquo; it with something you are already doing. Think of it like adding a new train car onto a train that&rsquo;s already going places.
For example:

When you tuck your children in at bedtime,&nbsp; pray for someone who does not know Jesus. 
</li>

When you sit down for breakfast, share one thing you are thankful for. 
</li>

When you get in the car, play a worship song. 
</li>

These tiny shifts can lead to powerful moments over time.
<h3>Keep It Simple</h3>
Sometimes we overcomplicate discipleship, thinking it has to look like a structured curriculum or a mini-sermon. We feel like we need a theology degree, but really, we just need the Spirit&rsquo;s guidance. Family discipleship is more about consistency than polish.
<h3>Make It Easy</h3>
It&rsquo;s important to make starting a new habit as easy to achieve as possible. If you want to regularly read the Bible with your children, leave the Bible in a place where you naturally gather. If you want to pray for unreached people groups at dinnertime, keep a world map close to the dinner table. Remove as many barriers as possible to establish your new family habit.&nbsp;
<h3>Be Consistent&mdash;But Give Yourself Grace</h3>
There&rsquo;s a saying in habit-building: &ldquo;Never skip twice.&rdquo; Life happens. You might miss a day, and that&rsquo;s okay. Just pick it back up the next day. Consistency is powerful, but perfection isn&rsquo;t required. Discipleship is more about showing up than showing off.
<h3>Let Your Children See Your Faith in Action</h3>
Children learn best by watching. Let them see you reading the Bible or listening to it while you make breakfast. Pray out loud&mdash;even simple prayers like &ldquo;Lord, help me today.&rdquo; Make worship music part of your family soundtrack. Your child will learn about faith by observing your life and your interactions with others. These everyday glimpses show your children that faith isn&rsquo;t just for Sundays. It&rsquo;s for real, everyday life.
Talk about God during everyday moments&mdash;on walks, at the store, while cleaning up toys. Ask spiritual questions at the dinner table. Invite your children into your faith journey and make it part of your family&rsquo;s natural rhythm. These small steps may seem simple, but when you do them consistently, you are well on your way to building routines that grow your family&rsquo;s faith.
In the end, small habits of faith grow deep roots over time. Start with one thing. Keep it short. Stack it with something familiar. Let your children see and hear your love for Jesus. You may be surprised how these tiny steps compound into a lasting legacy of faith.
